Google’s first web browser launched!

Finally, Google has launched its exclusive web browser, Chrome! It is a nice looking, opera-style browser, with many functions.

As it is google’s product, One can imagine a good competition between Firefox and Chrome. Currently, most of the people are using firefox, but with the entry of this google product, I think it will bang the search engine market. The features of both the browsers are great still a good competition is expected.

Chrome automatically detects the Web browser you’re using and prompts you through the process of installation. When you first run the application, Chrome imports your bookmarks, passwords, and settings from Firefox or Internet Explorer. It even can grab username and password data, and it automatically populates those fields for you when you use Chrome for the first time to visit a particular site.

Like its Google stablemates, Chrome has a remarkably minimalist interface. There is no full-scale menu bar and no title bar,and few distractions. All controls are buried beneath two icons to the right of the Omnibar. a page icon for managing tabs and using Google Gears to create application-like shortcuts from your desktop to a Web site; and a wrench for history, downloads, and other browser options.

When you create a new tab, instead of bringing up a blank page or home page, it creates a “new tab” page that shows links and images to most visited pages, recently closed tabs and search engine boxes for favorite sites such as Yelp, Wikipedia and Amazon. In Google Chrome, there is also an “incognito window” feature – which is much like the private browsing feature found in IE8 (often called porn mode.) The history from this browsing experience does not appear on the computer.

Downloading files is really cool. Big arrow points to bottom of page where download status is at. Much better then a pop up window. & it has a great built in spell checker!

Download google chrome and test it yourself because everyone has different views… 😉
