For those of you with a penchant for eco-friendly gadgetry, Micro Innovations will soon launch EcoSmart, an entire line of such products. We’re talking about a keyboard, a mouse, speakers, a 4-port USB hub, a USB keyboard, a webcam and media card reader/writer. All of these are to be made from materials that include organic, biodegradable stuff – bamboo, to be more precise.

The reason bamboo is preferred by manufacturers of electronic eco-friendly products is not only that it’s reasonably durable and pliable. The best thing about this kind of wood is that cutting it down and making stuff out of it doesn’t affect a bamboo forest too grievously. In the case of “classic” trees made of soft and hard wood, the harvest time is from 10 to 50 years, but bamboo apparently recovers after three to five years.

airtel-hp-broadbandBharti Airtel has pioneered 16 Mbps broadband its fastest wireline broadband on DSL in the country. This service, powered by Airtels Carrier Ethernet Network, will be initially available in the cities of Delhi NCR, Chennai and Bangalore with phased roll-out to additional cities of Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Kolkata.

In its press release, Bharti Airtel claimed that Airtel offers its broadband services across 95 cities in the country with approximately 9.92 lakh broadband customers as on December 31, 2008. Airtel provides its broadband service through a fibre backbone of Carrier Ethernet Network with last mile delivery on copper using ADSL2+ technology.

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) offers high speed data services in GSM network. It uses Packet Mode Technique to transfer data and provides connectivity to Internet. Users will be able to browse Internet using handsets supporting Internet browsing. They will also be able use their e-mail accounts as is being done through landline Internet access. BSNL introduced EVDO, a usb modem, the wireless broadband. It is available in the selected cities only. Please contact your nearest BSNL telephone exchange / Commercial office for more details and availability. The BSNL EDDO modem is USB based, making it easy for Desktop computers as well as Laptops. BSNL claims the maximum speed of about 2.4MB/S but in actual, it reaches maximum to 1.0 MB/s. it works pretty good so far. speed though varies depending on the signal strength.
