Hide any file INSIDE a .jpg image

I came across a cool trick to hide files to a .jpg image while surfing. I thought my readers may appreciate such trick, as you may need it to hide something special… Β πŸ˜‰

Follow the steps below to use this trick. You will be able to hide anything in just one .jpg image file.

1. Gather the file you wish to bind, and the image file, and place them in a same folder.
2. Add the file/files to a archive[.zip or .rar] by WinRar
3. Open command prompt by going to Start > Run > cmd
4. In Command Prompt, navigate to the folder where your two files are located[i.e. the image and .rar file] you can do this by typing “cd location” [eg: cd C:\New Folder] OR you can simply press the ‘shift’ key and then press mouse right click. It will open regular drop-down list, with an additional option “Open command window here”.

5. Type: “copy /b [old image] + [file] [new image]” Congrats, as far as anyone viewing is concerned, this file looks like a JPEG, acts like a JPEG, and is a JPEG, yet it now contains your file. In order to view/extract your file, there are two options that you can take :

a) Change the file extension from fluffy.jpg to fluffy.rar, then open and your file is there

b) Leave the file extension as is, right click, open with WinRar and your file is there.

Here is An Example:-

let files to be hide are:
1. abc.flv
2. xyz.txt
3. blah.blah ……
Add these Files to a archive say secret.rar And Image File be Image.jpg And these files are in C:\New folder now goto “C:\new folder” and type Copy /b Image.jpg+secret.rar new.jpg Now there will be a jpg file named as new .jpg which will totally act as JPGΒ to extract ur files :
a) rename new.jpg to new.rar and extract
b) right click new.jpg n open with win RAR.
Note: It would only work if the size of the rar file and the jpg file are comparable. You cannot hide a 500MB rar file in a 500KB jpg file. Works best with text documents. Enjoy hiding your secret files. Comments are always welcomed. Β πŸ™‚

  1. just a little addition…if you’re just using a small .txt file there’s no need to archive it (put it into a .zip or .rar format) in order to do this…it works the same way w/ just a .txt extension in my experience & the file size is usually negligible…just a friendly tip for those looking to realy a small message or such privately & save a few steps & the use of WinRar or WinZip…otherwise great post & great technique… πŸ˜€

  2. well, putting a 10mb rar file into a 50kb image does indeed work. it will just be less “hidden” from anyone who is looking for something hidden, being a 10mb image.

  3. How, I was wondering when this was gonna be “invented” πŸ˜€

I actually used to do this with my Mp3’s back in the mid 90’s.

Merge a JPG (for instance, the cover of the album) and an Mp3 and you’ll have a file that plays the song when opened in your media player and shows the album cover when opened in a browser or picture preview application.

    Simple, yet effective πŸ˜€

  4. Gosh some of you commenters must be really young or don’t listen to the news. This ‘trick’ was exposed shortly afer 09/11. Seems as though terrorist organizations had figured this out and were passing ‘secrets’ and ‘commands’ to one another on public website. Just FYI. This site didn’t invent it.

  5. Well no duh they didn’t invent it
besides this has been around way longer than 9/11. it used to be used by child pornographers in the late 80s/early 90s

  6. Ok, Haters!
The guy didn’t say, hey look at what I’ve invented… He clearly said I came across this. You’re dumb.

  7. “I thought my readers may appreciate suck trick”

A suck trick you say? That’s either a typo or troll material. Either way, well played.

  8. it was a spelling mistake! i was writing “Such” instead of “Suck”!
anyways, I updated the post. πŸ™‚
    thanks for pointing it out!
