Upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate

After a lot of dilemma over whether to upgrade to Windows 7 RC build, yesterday, i finally took the plunge. Since there was a direct upgrade option from my Vista, i did not lose any of my program or my files. The upgrade went smoothly. So far, i did not have problems with anything. The apperiance is really cool. It si a bit sinilar to Vista, but I can see the difference between the two. My laptop’s speed has increased by at least 50%. Now, it feels nice to move more than 200 gb data from 1 partition to another in just 2-3 minutes. icon smile Upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate

Things I Like In 7 :

  • Aero peek effect. I’m in love with this effect. Though it doesn’t give any functionality more than the “show desktop”, the glass effect is awesome.
  • The new taskbar. Even in my Vista, i use a full row of Quick Launch bar with “large icons”. So, this new taskbar is even more useful, atleast for me.

Things I don’t Like:

There is nothing much i don’t like in 7, after one day of use. But, i don’t like this thing called “Libraries”. I’m yet to figure out what it is exactly. Also, I miss the “DreamScene” from my Vista. I also lost “MediaDirect” which I have got with my Dell laptop. I’ll post my experience with Windows 7 as i use it more in the following days. For those who’re still in a dilemma as me, i’d happily recommend taking the plunge.

You can download a free copy of the Windows & BETA version from microsoft itself. Click here to download a copy of this great OS. But, before that, confirm that you have a hotmail account. It requires an account for registration.

Look at some of the screen shots taken:

Cool themes like this one, can be downloaded free of cost from many sites. All these features made me crazy about this amazing Windows operating system, I have ever used. It also supports a large range of applications which vista doesn’t. Many people say it is just like Windows XP, which is the most popular OS from microsoft, added with visual effects and a large number of pre-loaded drivers.

    libraries are a better way to manage your files and folders, think of library as a virtual folder to arrange your important or specific folders to search, catalog , share…

    Win7 does have a lot of good stuff under the hood. To get the effect of the Quick Launch bar from earlier Windows, you can just “Pin” stuff to the taskbar. It makes it real easy to organize it all and keep it under control. I can agreee with the speed increases, as my system I have 7 on moves in a much more snappy fashion than with Vista on it (comparing fresh install to fresh install though here, not an upgraded install.

    I will say that you will want to be careful, as there are no official plans yet to allow for “upgrades” from the Release Candidate to the final commercial version, which is due out on October 22nd. The RC also times out in June of next year (with an earlier timeout in March of next year).
    For most people it has been an easy install for Windows 7. However if you run into any issues ,Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here:

    It is supported by product specialists as well as Microsoft engineers and support teams, and they are usually pretty quick on the ball for responses to any problems.

    Hi, but I am using pirated addition of XP… so if I upgrade, will they identify it?

    @azmath
    No friend,
    They will not do anything to you even if you are downloading win7 from their site.
    Download it without fear. Install it. It will be licenced to you as it is BETA version. Enjoy! :)
