To get the effect of the Quick Launch bar from earlier Windows, you can just "Pin" stuff to the taskbar. It makes it real easy to organize it all and keep it under control. I can agreee with the speed increases, as my system I have 7 on moves in a much more snappy fashion than with Vista on it (comparing fresh install to fresh install though here, not an upgraded install. I will say that you will want to be careful, as there are no official plans yet to allow for "upgrades" from the Release Candidate to the final commercial version, which is due out on October 22nd. The RC also times out in June of next year (with an earlier timeout in March of next year). For most people it has been an easy install for Windows 7. However if you run into any issues ,Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here: http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 It is supported by product specialists as well as Microsoft engineers and support teams, and they are usually pretty quick on the ball for responses to any problems.
