Rubik’s Cube MP3 Player

Rubik Cubes, for those of you that haven’t been paying attention to pop culture, are hot again. Innovative designers are trying to capitalize on the Rubik’s craze by using the form in new, creative ways. Designer Hee Yong has created the first Rubik Cube MP3 Player.

From the cool-looking-but-totally-impractical department comes this Rubik’s Cube MP3 Player concept. Look, it’s a Rubik’s Cube! And it plays music!

It’s neat and all, being controlled by twists of the columns, but who wants to carry around a Rubik’s Cube in their pocket? And I prefer my controls to be something I don’t have to think about, not something I need to think extra hard about. Somehow I think this will stay a concept for the foreseeable future.

Each layer of the cube has a specific function designed to control the MP3 player, such as play, pause, forward, or back. To turn off the MP3 player, you will need to solve the puzzle completely (or let the battery drain trying to solve it).

The idea behind this weird looking gadget by Hee Yong from Korea is simple yet complicated. This a mp3 player which is in the form of the famous mind game Rubik’s cube. Though there are a lot of different and weird looking mp3 players available in the market, what makes this mp3 player stands out is how it functions. In order to operate the player, you have to solve or I mean complete the colors of every layer in the Rubik’s cube. By solving each layer, you’ll be able to make the player play, stop, forward or pause. However, to be able to turn off this mind-blowing, and I say that literally and figuratively, you have to make sure that every layer of the Rubik’s cube is solved. So you can now enjoy listening to your favorite music while figuring out how to close the player.
