Samsung 8800 Pixon review

These days the 5 megapixel camera phone have become old fashioned, the latest in thing are the 8 megapixel camera, All the major brands have come up with their eight megapixel camera, be it LG, SONY or SAMSUNG. Talking about Samsung, it had launched the i8510 INNOV8 slider phone in this segment, but now it has come up with a new phone. This one is known as the Bresson or Pixon M8800. With the usual and standard mobile features ithat you expect of a device, the Samsung M8800 Pixon extends the boundaries with new features that include tilt-and-flip photo browser (allows flipping through your photos by simply tilting your handset).

It’s a measure of just how advanced the cameraphone market has become when an 8 megapixel lens doesn’t raise temperatures as much as it would have done six months ago, but Samsung are really going for domination in this section of the market with the INNOV8 also boasting a similar camera but without the enhancements the Pixon branding will bring. The M8800 Pixon will feature autofocus and a flash obviously, but also face/smile/blink detection, panoramic shooting, image stabalisation and shake reduction software, all of which are to be found on ‘proper’ point-and-shoot cameras.

Some of the other highlights of the Samsung M8800 Pixon include a GPS receiver, built-in accelerometer, FM radio with RDS and microSD memory card slot. In addition to taking exiting 8 megapixel photos its camera is capable of recording WVGA(740 x 480 pixels) videos at 30fps, which is the best that we know of among mobile phones. The Pixon will even have DivX playback and SRS (surround sound system) Virtual 5.1 Ch.

Expected to start shipping in mid-October, Samsung M8800 Pixon will retail at around 500 US dollars a piece.
