Tips to keep the CPU dry in rainy season

During the rainy season, when your home is exposed to moisture and humidity, it becomes necessary to protect your PC so that it stays alive and kicking. rain-21So you need to keep your PC tucked in a corner, where there is no scope for the rainwater to trickle in and ensure the CPU is dry and moist free. But PC woes don’t just end there. Every year, rain preempts a persistent cut in power supply, which means your PC is prone to get affected by voltage fluctuations. Here are some preventive measures that you can take to save your PC from the rainy mayhem.

During the rain, take protective steps to open the case at regular intervals, use a lighted bulb to heat the space within the CPU, so that it remains dry. Just make sure that your computer is turned off while you are using the bulb. This will help in preventing moisture from accumulating on the motherboard, RAM, or the cables within. You can even use silica gel to prevent moisture buildup. It is available in sealed packets that contain granules of this desiccant. These granules are capable of soaking the moisture from the air circulating within the case. Once the granules change their color, you know that the gel is completely saturated. But as these packets are reusable, you can heat them and replace them in the CPU. One thing you should never do to clean the dust and moisture from the CPU, keyboard or monitor is use vacuum cleaner or hair/hand dryer. These devices create static electricity and can affect the motherboard and graphics card in the computer.
