  1. Not everyone’s computer can start from the BIOS Wake Up option even if it would, then too may be some of the app will block it from shutdown and it wont stop the connection.
Here are a few tips for added safety:
instead of adding the internet connection at startup, make a batch file named start.bat with the following content
    “rasdial connection_name user_name password”
and one named stop.bat with the foll content
    “rasdial connection_name /disconnect”
and put these files in the scheduler whenever you want to use them to start or stop the connection.

but when you are downloading from uTorrent, my suggestion will be, not to use windows, it has many security holes and your ip address is broadcasted when you download through uTorrent, so people can turn ur computer into a Zombie computer and can do many illegal activities from it.
for downloading through uTorrent, use Ubuntu and run uTorrent under Wine and use “crontab” for scheduling
the internet turn on and turn off commands are like this in linux “pon dsl-provider” and “poff dsl-provider” respectively.
It works fine with added security.
I have been downloading more than 100GBs every month through linux from last January 2008 and since Feb, I started using Linux for this(after my computer been hacked thrice by my friends)
One more thing, in 6 hours, uTorrent can download around 4GB, so if you are not getting 4GBs everyday then configure it like I have and you’ll get more data everyday.
