Canon Powershot SX130IS review

Yesterday i bought the Canon’s new digital camera, PowerShot SX130IS, great cam wit really great features with a really good price tag! I got it for around 14,000 INR. At first glance the Canon PowerShot SX130IS appears to be a piece of art in itself rather than simply a vehicle to creating art. Its sleek, rounded, ergonomic design puts all major controls at your fingertips ready to be put to use in an instant, while the large 3” rear LCD with wide viewing angle really lets you see what you are shooting. The high-resolution screen also gives a beautifully clear picture making reviewing your shots a simple task.

The contains of the box were a 4Gb memory card, carry case, a couple of batteries(Non chargeable), a data cable. The batteries(Panasonic) inside the box were non-chargeable! As the instructions on batteries was printed in Chinese, I thought those were chargeable. So after they discharged i put them into charger and after 3 hrs, the chemicals inside it spited out. those batteries died in just an hour.

Although appearing sleek and simple, the SX130IS is packed with creative features including Miniature Effect while shooting movies or Fisheye Effect for stills. Add to this the latest Smart Flash Exposure system combined with the Smart AUTO system and you can be sure that your shots will be the best they can be.

Not only does the SX130IS come with some neat little gimmicks, but it is also packed with amazing basic functional features. Canon has combined their DIGIC 4 Image processor with a 12.1 megapixel CCD and, of course, their Optical Image Stabilizer system, meaning sharp, high resolution shots under most conditions.

When it comes to zoom, the SX130IS doesn’t disappoint. The 12x wide-angle optical zoom is compact yet bright and it’s fast enough to get you in tight when you need it.

Finally, the SX130IS has two other great little features. The first is that it runs on AA-size batteries, which is particularly useful for travelers. If you’ve ever been traveling through India or Nepal, or in fact any out of the way place, then you know that it’s not an easy task to find a 2CR5 battery. It’s at these times that you truly appreciate the use of standard sized batteries.

The last, and by no means least, impressive attribute of the SX130IS is that it allows you to shoot HD video with stereo sound. Combining this with the 12x optical zoom makes this a digital still (or should I say video?) camera to be reckoned with.
